Borussia Dortmund have told reported suitors Arsenal and Barcelona to pay £135m to sign winger Ousmane Dembele this summer.

Borussia Dortmund have a highly talented young winger wanted by a club flush with cash. Inevitably, they are determined to get as much money as they can. Hence it’s no surprise that the Guardian report that Borussia Dortmund are demanding £135m for Ousmane Dembele.

Barcelona have identified the 20-year-old as a replacement for Neymar, who was signed by PSG for £198m. However, Dortmund feel that they’d be unable to sign a replacement of similar quality and potential at this stage of the transfer window, and hope that their high asking price will put the Spanish club off.

Arsenal have also been linked with Dembele recently, but would almost certainly encounter the same issue as Barcelona have. Even if they could convince Dembele to join, convincing Dortmund to sell is another matter entirely. With Monaco standing firm on Thomas Lemar, it’s unlikely Arsenal will then go for the more expensive player as an alternative.

Dembele is also said to be willing to stay at Dortmund for another season, as he understands that he’d be difficult to replace at this late stage.
