Dharmesh Sheth claims that four Arsenal players could leave before the transfer window shuts on 31 August.

The Sky Sports presenter has confirmed what most outlets have already been reporting, that Arsene Wenger has cooled his interest on Thomas Lemar and is now focusing on offloading players Arsenal doesn’t need.

According to Sheth [via Daily Star], these four players are Jack Wilshere, Carl Jenkinson, Mathieu Debuchy and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

At least one of which Gooners won’t be too happy about.

Jenks has one year left on his current deal and since he only made one Premier League appearances last season after returning from a lengthy knee injury, he’s probably the most likely to leave with Swansea being the latest club to be linked with a move for the 25-year-old right-back.

Mathieu Debuchy, despite having two years left on his current deal, has hardly played for Arsenal since the signing for the Gunners from Newcastle in 2014, especially since Hector Bellerin made the first team. He’s made his frustration at not being included pretty clear but his alleged wage demands have meant he’s had to stick around.

Jack Wilshere has been linked with Juventus and West Ham as he’s got less than a year on his contract and Arsenal don’t seem to want to offer him a new one.

The Ox, meanwhile, is a bit of a pickle because he’s been linked with Liverpool and now a £35m to Chelsea despite previously being rumoured to have agreed to stay at Arsenal. Whether he’s just holding out for a better deal since he reportedly wants £120k-per-week remains to be seen.

Last week, Wenger did admit that some of the fat has to be trimmed this summer.

“We will let some players go because too much competition for places is too detrimental,” the boss said.

“Not enough competition for places is detrimental also. 33 is too high.

“We want to find a good balance of confidence and urgency that every Premier League game demands.

“We’ve had some bad starts in the last four years but we’ve had intensity in our games and the preparation that’s needed to be ready so let’s go into the Premier League now with the same discipline, the same spirit and let’s see where we can go.”
