Danny Murphy says that there’s no reason why Arsenal should sell Alexis Sanchez this window, whatever the price.

Talking to Sky Sports via Daily Star, former Liverpool and Spurs midfielder Danny Murphy said that the Arsenal forward is irreplaceable and therefore the Gunners can’t afford to lose him. He said: “If they keep Sanchez and with (Alexandre) Lacazette, they have more firepower.

“If Sanchez does go, and I don’t care how much money they get, you can’t replace that type of player at Arsenal. That’s because all the players in the world that are better than him are at bigger clubs. If he goes they’re going to be worse off.”

Alexis has just a year left on his current Arsenal contract and doesn’t seem to be close to signing a new deal, although many sources have claimed that the Gunners haven’t had a bid for him either.

Players of Alexis Sanchez’s calibre are in short supply. The Chilean international has been in fantastic form for Arsenal, scoring and creating 34 goals in 38 Premier League last season, and could be a free transfer in 12 months time.

He’s regarded as a world-class forward and is more attainable than the majority of his equivalents at big European clubs. Arsenal won’t be able to replace him, especially with such little time in this summer’s transfer window.

Although Arsenal have looked pretty strong in attack, their defeat to Stoke showed what happens when most of your chances fall to players who aren’t as clinical at the 28-year-old. As a result, keeping Alexis at the club is essential, as Murphy said.
