Stoke City and Scotland midfielder Charlie Adam believes that Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney could play for Arsenal.

The left back has been impressing in Scotland, winning two successful Young Player of the Year awards and earning his first caps for the Scottish national team.

His performances have earned the attention of the biggest Premier League clubs, and fellow Scotsman Charlie Adam feels he can play for any of them.

“Tierney is Scotland’s best player now – he is different to anything else we have got,” Adam said, as reported by the Daily Star.

“After I’d watched Tierney a couple of times I spoke to the people at Stoke about going for him. But unfortunately the figures being mentioned are too big – even for a club like us.

“If you’re talking between £20-25m for a left-back, that’s a lot of money. But I hear people from English clubs talking about him.

He is the next one who could go to a Premier League club and play regularly. He could play for a Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal or Manchester United without a doubt.”

While Tierney is an exciting player, Arsenal aren’t about to be spending £25m or more on a left back at this moment in time. Arsene Wenger has repeated said he needs to trim the squad before he looks to bring in any new faces.

Though he’s yet to play there this season, Sead Kolasinac was already brought in to be our new left wing-back, while Wenger has demonstrated a willingness to play Hector Bellerin and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain there as well.

As for Tierney, the 20-year-old caught the eye recently by scoring a 40-yard screamer in the Scottish League Cup against Kilmarnock. He’s developed a reputation for being a very quick and attacking full-back.

The defender made 40 appearances for Celtic last season and has four caps for the Scotland national team.
