Barcelona have reportedly joined Arsenal, as well as a handful of other clubs, in the race to sign Schalke midfielder, Leon Goretzka.

Arsenal were linked with Goretzka earlier in the summer and now Barcelona have reportedly joined them in pursuit of the 22-year-old.

The La Liga giants allegedly sent out scouts to Schalke’s 2-0 win over Leipzig last week. However, they’re also said to be keeping an eye on Goretzka’s teammate, Naby Keita.

The Germany international, who previously claimed that speculation over his future was getting on his nerves, is said to be on Arsene Wenger’s radar seeing as the Frenchman has only signed two players so far this summer and one of them – Sead Kolasinac – was free.

Goretzka, whose contract runs out next year, has been tipped to potentially replace Jack Wilshere and is will supposedly cost whichever club wants to sign him £21m.

Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Liverpool have all been linked with the youngster after he made 41 appearances for Schalke last season, scoring eight goals and assisting six.

The central midfielder has been at the Bundesliga club since 2013 when he signed from VfL Bochum, where he came through the ranks.

He also has nine caps for Germany’s senior team after representing them from an u16 level, and has scored three times.
