On Thursday, the Arsenal squad took part in an open training session at the Emirates so the fans could watch their favourite players up close and see what goes on behind the scenes.

According to Arsenal youth expert, Jeorge Bird, who was in attendance along with about 5,000 other Gooners, Cohen Bramall was training with the squad, as was Jeff Reine-Adelaide, who’s just returned from an injury he suffered in April.

Said injury ended the midfielder’s season early so it’s encouraging to see that he’s bounced back so quickly.

Joe Willock was also involved, as well as goalkeepers Matt Macey and Ryan Huddart.

Arsenal fans will have also been pleased to see 17-year-old Reiss Nelson still training with the first team after impressing in pre-season.

Gabriel is apparently back running after injuring his cruciate ligament during Arsenal’s final Premier League match against Everton last season, as was Jack Wilshere. However, they were training away from the rest of the main group along with Mesut Ozil, Calum Chambers and Carl Jenkinson.

Gabriel was expected to miss out on Arsenal’s pre-season trips but was predicted to return on 31 July. Therefore, if he’s just started running, he appears to be on track.

Mathieu Debuchy, who played at centre-back for the Gunners’ u23s on Tuesday during their 5-1 win over Leyton Orient.

Lucas Perez, who Arsene Wenger has confirmed is leaving this summer, was also involved in training and apparently looked sharp.

Aaron Ramsey and Chuba Akpom weren’t.

Oh, and just in case you were wondering, Alexis Sanchez was also there but more on that later…
