The Netherlands won the Women’s Euros 2017 on Sunday afternoon.

All four of Arsenal’s Dutch women featured in the Euros final against Denmark.

The hosts won 4-2, with a brace from Arsenal newbie, Vivianne Miedema, a superb goal from Barcelona midfielder, Lieke Martens, and a goal from FC Twente’s Sherida Spitse.

Denmark put up a decent fight. Nadia Nadim netted a penalty in the sixth minute and Pernille Harder scored before half time. However, the Netherlands have been unstoppable during the entire tournament and were the rightful winners.

The possession between the two teams was more or less equal. However, the Dutch had six shots on target compared to Denmark’s three.

Out of the four Arsenal players who stared for the Netherlands, Sari van Veenendaal, Daniëlle van de Donk and Vivianne Miedema all played the full 90 minutes. While defender Dominique Janssen made her one and only appearance of the tournament.

The 22-year-old played 33 minutes, coming on for Desiree van Lunteren, who picked up a knock in the first half.

Miedema was one of the stars of the tournament, scoring four in six appearances.

Sari van Veenendaal, meanwhile, pulled off 17 saves.

Congratulations to our Arsenal women. This is the first time their country has won the Euros and they did the Netherlands proud. They’ve definitely shown the rest of Europe what they’re made of.
