The Arsenal supporters are annoyed by Everton showing more ambition than the club this summer, with the Toffees confirming the £45m signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Everton’s summer spending could reach £141m if they complete the £45m signing of Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson. A club that has traditionally been tight with its funds, the sudden loosening of the purse strings has gotten the attention of many fans.

The spending has been fuelled by new Everton owner Farhad Moshiri, who happens to be a friend of Arsenal’s second largest shareholder, Alisher Usmanov. He was a part of the Red and White Holdings consortium that attempted to takeover Arsenal before Stan Kroenke did.

Some Arsenal fans have regarded Everton’s spending spree as a sign of what could have been, right at a time when Arsenal’s own transfer window seems to have run out of steam, reports Football.London.

It seems any sense of perspective has completely vanished.

While fans can be disappointed at Arsenal’s own transfer window, people really need to look at the players Everton have bought before getting all pissy about them showing more ‘ambition’. That one player Arsenal spent money on this summer is better than any of the players they’ve brought in.

For that matter, £45m on an average player like Sigurdsson is embarrassing. It’s more desperate and lazy than it is ambitious. Then there’s the fact that Everton also lost Romelu Lukaku this summer, and have no where near the goals in the team to replace him.

Arsenal aren’t as active, but from my perspective they remain in a much better position than Everton.
