Liverpool have reportedly launched a £66.5m bid for Monaco winger, Thomas Lemar, and Arsenal fans are fuming.

L’Equipe claim that Liverpool have made a £66.5m bid for Lemar despite Arsene Wenger claiming that Monaco won’t sell the 21-year-old this summer.

Arsenal were heavily linked with Lemar earlier in the transfer window but Wenger insisted that the deal was dead.

Monaco, after selling Tiemoue Bakayoko, Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva to Chelsea and Manchester City respectively, were allegedly reluctant to allow the France international to  leave and shut the door on the potential transfer.

The Gunners were allegedly willing to pay £55m for the winger. However, needed to make some sales first in order to get their finances in order. Then, the deal ‘died’.

Gooners are therefore livid as, if Lemar does sign for Liverpool, it’s looking as if Wenger either lied or Arsenal just didn’t try hard enough to sign their man.

The rumour comes the day after Jurgen Klopp’s side thrashed Arsenal 4-0 at Anfield.

If Lemar does go to Liverpool and Arsenal sell players without replacing them, which looks possible, I imagine the fan we’ll see this season will make last year’s campaign look like a picnic.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looks almost certainly off to Chelsea and Lemar could be a brilliant replacement.
