Arsenal forward Lucas Perez reportedly has seven clubs interested in his signature this summer, with the Gunners keen to trim the squad before the transfer window closes.

Lucas Perez has been linked with a move away all summer, but still doesn’t seem to have found one. Press Association journalist Mark Mann-Bryans revealed how many clubs have lodged bids for the Spanish forward, who is still far away from an exit.

If Mark’s information is correct, then the number of clubs that have an interest in Lucas has been severely under-reported. Newcastle and Deportivo have of course seen more than a few headlines linking them to the player, but until now it seemed like the latter were the only club to make a serious bid.

Now it seems like other clubs in England, Germany, Spain and Turkey are all interested in the sharp shooter. This could explain why Arsenal have been so reluctant to agree anything with Depor, as they may feel that they have a strong negotiating position.

Lucas more than likely wants to go back to La Coruna, a club where he knows he will play based on past experience, and where he already has a good relationship with the fans. This could explain why Lucas’ agent has been so keen to push the Deportivo links in the media, to try and force this move.

From an Arsenal point of view, if the club can find an alternative option willing to pay more money, there’s no good reason why the Gunners should settle for a lower fee with Deportivo, considering Lucas still has a long contract in North London.

So ultimately Arsenal should get the final say on his future.
