Arsenal are preparing a bid for Paris Saint-Germain and Germany forward Julian Draxler, according to latest reports.

The 23-year-old has been at PSG for just eight months but is already surplus to requirements. That’s according to Transfer Market Web, who claim that the arrival of Neymar has signalled the end of Draxler’s time as a first-team regular.

The German had rediscovered his best form on the left of PSG’s front line but will now undoubtedly be behind the aforementioned £200m Brazilian international in the pecking order. This has led to speculation about his future, with reports claiming that he could now be available for £32m.

Arsenal were one of the first names linked, given their history with Draxler and their current desire to add a winger to the squad. It was back in 2013, when the German forward was just emerging at Schalke, that Arsenal were rumoured to be willing to pay up to £40m to sign him.

This was also paired with some crazy talk of Arsene Wenger converting him into a striker. Draxler went on to move to Wolfsburg, where his form tanked, before managing to secure a move to the Parc des Princes in January. He’s since lost his place in the side for PSG.

Arsenal had wanted Monaco’s Thomas Lemar but have found the Ligue 1 champions stubborn negotiators. Draxler could be a good alternative, I feel.
