How did Arsenal’s loanees get on at their respective teams this weekend?

Only one Arsenal player managed to get a whole match for his respective loan team this weekend.

Takuma Asano –  Stuttgart

Asano got a whole 90 minutes under his belt against Hertha Berlin. However, Stuttgart lost 2-0 after 26-year-old Mathew Leckie netted a second half brace.

After only one Bundesliga game played, the goal deficit puts Stuttgart in the relegation zone but it’s still early days.

This is the 22-year-old forward’s second season on loan at the German club after being denied a UK work permit again. Last season, he made 27 appearances, scored four goals and assisted the same amount.

Stephy Mavididi – Preston North End

Mavididi came on in the 88th minute against Reading. Preston won 1-0; Jordan Hugill scored.

The 19-year-old striker, who was forced to return from his loan spell at Charlton last season because of a season-ending hamstring injury, had just four touches and completed one pass during his limited minutes on the pitch.

Emi Martinez – Getafe

Martinez was on the bench behind Getafe’s first choice goalkeeper, Vicente Guaita.

Guaita actually turned out to be vital in winning the Spanish side a point during their 0-0 draw against Athletic Bilbao, who were reduced to 10-men when midfielder Alvaro Jimenez was red carded after just 24 minutes.

The 30-year-old made some crucial saves. Bad news for Emi if he wants to get some time between the sticks.

Marc Bola – Bristol Rovers

Bola was also an unused sub for Bristol during their 3-2 win over Bury.

With Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Bramall also now on loan at Birmingham City, hopefully we’ll have more Gunners in action next weekend.
