Arsenal fans have mocked former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand for his unfortunate choice of nostalgic image on Twitter.

Twitter can be a cruel place where any sign of weakness will be exploited by hundreds of people. Rio Ferdinand should know all about that, but still made the mistake providing ammunition to be used against him.

Apparently feeling nostalgic, Ferdinand posted a picture of the 2005 Manchester United team lined up on the halfway line and prompted people to tell him what a good line-up it was, reports the Mirror.

Indeed, it was a good team, with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ferdinand himself.

Unfortunately, the image was taken during the penalty shootout in the 2005 FA Cup final between Arsenal and Manchester United, which Arsenal won. And the Arsenal fans wasted no time in reminding Ferdinand of that fact.

That particular cup final stood out for one of the rare occasions Arsene Wenger parked the bus. United were dominant throughout the game, but couldn’t win it normal or extra time.

Rio Ferdinand may have to think before making his next nostalgic post, perhaps choosing a snap from a game Manchester United actually won.
