Arsenal could reportedly be missing up to seven players for their opening day Premier League fixture against Leicester City on Friday evening.

The Gunners welcome the Foxes at the Emirates Stadium this week, but Arsenal and injuries are never too far away from each other, with up to seven players potentially missing for the first game, reports talkSPORT.

Santi Cazorla (achilles) and Gabriel (knee) will miss the game due to injuries picked up last season. Cazorla has been out since last October and is a long way off returning, while Gabriel injured his knee in the final game against Everton last season and has only just started running again.

Per Mertesacker (facial), Francis Coquelin (ankle), Aaron Ramsey (knock) and Mesut Ozil (knock) are more recent injuries. Mertesacker received a cut on his face after a collision with Gary Cahill in Sunday’s Community Shield win and is a doubt. Coquelin injured his ankle during the Emirates Cup, while Ramsey and Ozil sustained knocks in training last week that ruled them out of the Community Shield.

Then there’s Jack Wilshere (leg), who has only recently returned from a leg fracture and is still building up his fitness. By comparison, Chelsea have two injuries, Manchester United have four, Tottenham have five, Liverpool have seven and Manchester City have two.
