Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere could join West Ham United this summer, according to latest reports.

Wilshere could yet get his wish to play for his boyhood club. According to the Telegraph, the Hammers may make a move for him should they lose Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes to Tottenham.

Despite claims earlier in the summer that they weren’t looking at midfielders, West Ham’s pursuit of Sporting’s William Carvalho and now Andre Gomes suggests otherwise. Should they be unable to sign the latter, they could try to get the Arsenal 25-year-old permanently or on loan.

Speculation about Wilshere’s future seemed to cool as the season began, as no club came forward with an offer Arsenal liked. However, it does seem the Gunners are still willing to let him leave.

Zenit St. Petersburg and Real Betis have both made enquiries, but Wilshere is said to prefer a move to West Ham. He went on loan to Bournemouth this time last year, but with only a year left on his contract, Arsenal will be keen to sell the player if they can.
