Arsenal have accepted Manchester City’s £60m bid for Alexis Sanchez, according to latest reports.

Arsenal have agreed a deal in principle with Manchester City. That’s according to the Mirror, who report that City’s offer of £60m has now been accepted by Arsenal.

Negotiations between the two clubs began earlier this week and while Arsenal wanted a player as a part of the deal, City only wanted to offer pure cash. If this is latest report is true, it seems City have gotten their way.

The deal will be worth an initial £55m plus £5m in add-ons. The completion of the deal could be dependent on Arsenal signing a replacement by the end of the window. While interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Julian Draxler has seemingly cooled, the Gunners could be back in for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.

After weeks and weeks of the two clubs going at each other through the press, this sorry saga could soon be coming to an end. Arsenal were adamant all summer that Alexis would not be sold, and especially not to a rival club. However, that stance seemingly softened after last week’s defeat to Liverpool.

Arsenal have already raked in £40m from the sale of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. With Alexis set to be sold too, there’s now no reason why Arsenal can’t sign more players.
