AC Milan have turned down the chance to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, according to latest reports from Italy.

Arsenal had apparently offered Wilshere to Milan as part of their efforts to sell the midfielder this summer. However, Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport say that Milan were put off by Wilshere’s injury record and rejected the offer.

Milan were reportedly interested last summer when Arsenal decided to send the 25-year-old out on loan, but the player was convinced to join Bournemouth instead. He returned to Arsenal with an injury and has spent most the summer regaining fitness.

Although Arsenal were open to offers, it’s looking likely that Wilshere will see out the remainder of his contract at the club. Sampdoria, Antalyaspor and West Ham were the most heavily linked, but none of them were willing to pay the money that Arsenal wanted.

Wilshere is currently back in first-team training and has been playing in the U23s to gain match fitness. Should he stay at Arsenal, he could get run outs in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League.

Who knows? He could yet convince Arsene Wenger that he can play for the first-team again.
