Robin van Persie, Ian Wright, Nicolas Anelka and Thierry Henry have been named among the Premier League strikers with the best goals-per-game ratio ever.

When it comes to Arsenal’s history, we’ve had it pretty good when it comes to strikers. In fact, Thierry Henry scored the fifth most Premier League goals of all time: 175.

Impressively, Arsenal have also had four players named among the 20 strikers with the best goals-per-game ratio in the history of the league.

First we have Nicolas Anelka, a.k.a. Le Sulk, down in 18th. He managed 125 goals in 364 appearances, which works out, on average as around 0.34 goals per game.

Robin van Persie comes in at fifth with 144 goals in 280 appearances. This is despite spending most of his time at Arsenal out injured, which, annoyingly, makes this even more spectacular. That’s 0.51 goals per game, on average.

The Dutchman was a Gunner for eight years. Not that you would have know that, given the way he jumped ship quicker in 2012.

Next, in fourth, is Ian Wright. The Arsenal legend scored 113 goals in 213 appearances. That’s 0.53 goals per game. He’s also the second-highest scoring Gunner of all time.

In first place, not just in terms of Arsenal goals but goals per game is, of course, Thierry Henry. He scored a whopping 175 goals in 258 appearances, which is around 0.68 goals per game. What a guy.

So, who’s next?

Olivier Giroud has scored 99 in 230, which is 0.43 goals per game. Already better than Le Sulk…
