Jack Wilshere would prefer not to leave England should Arsenal sell him this summer according to reports.

Wilshere has received interest from Turkish club Antalyaspor and Italian club Sampdoria. A move to either club would be a very different change of environment.

According to ESPN, Wilshere doesn’t want to move abroad and instead wants to remain in England should he be sold by Arsenal.

This is reportedly due to family reasons. Wilshere, recently married, has a young family.

Arsenal are open to selling the midfielder, but haven’t received many offers from English clubs.

West Ham were interested, but have said that aren’t looking to sign a midfielder currently. The likes of Bournemouth and Newcastle have also been linked with a loan move.

ESPN claim that Wilshere hasn’t given up on playing for Arsenal and wants to prove his worth during the remainder of pre-season before making a decision on his future.

He reportedly returned to first team training this week after recovering from a leg fracture sustained last April. He has not been included in the Emirates Cup squad and it seems reports of his return were premature.

The current situation is certainly a far cry from when he initially broke through. Back then, there was talk of big money bids coming in from Manchester City. The player’s value has decreased sharply since.

A fit Jack Wilshere could still be a useful squad player for Arsenal, but the days of him being an important member of the team seem long gone.
