West Ham are aiming to pick up Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi if they miss out on Javier Hernandez, according to reports

The Telegraph state that West Ham’s main target is Hernandez, but that they’re also keeping tabs on Giroud and Batshuayi.

Certainly all the noise around West Ham at the moment is that they’re looking for a striker, given Andy Carroll’s injury problems and the fact that none of the alternatives have particularly impressed when given the chance.

The Hammers’ top scorer in 2016/17 was Michail Antonio, with nine goals.

With Lacazette on the way to Arsenal, Giroud’s future does seem to be uncertain.

He signed a new contract with the Gunners earlier in the year, but with the World Cup coming up in 2018, he’s not going to want to settle for a bench place this season. West Ham make sense as an option as they’re in the same league and the same city, so it would be an easy move for the player and a great move for West Ham.

However, Giroud has only ever said he wants to stay, and from an Arsenal point of view it would be disappointing to lose a player who brought so many goals to the team from his bench appearances last season.

His future will likely also be affected by the potential moves of Lucas Perez and Alexis Sanchez, so at this moment in time it’s hard to know what comes next.
