West Ham are close to completing the signing of Javier Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen, which would end their interest in Olivier Giroud.

  • West Ham were targeting Giroud, but have seemingly moved on
  • They could now sign former Manchester United striker Hernandez instead

West Ham were one of the clubs showing an interest in Giroud and were reportedly willing to spend £20m to sign him. While they believed that Giroud would want to join them, nothing concrete came out of their interest, and any potential deal has since gone cold.

It now seems that West Ham have moved on to other targets, and are reportedly close to signing Bayer Levekusen’s Javier Hernandez. The former Manchester United striker could join the Hammers for around £13m within the next week or so.

It’d mean one less club interested in Giroud, albeit one that arguably stood the smallest chance of signing him. Everton, Lyon, Marseille, and Borussia Dortmund have all been linked, but for the time being, Giroud will remain an Arsenal player.
