West Brom are reportedly determined to beat Arsenal to the signing of Sporting midfielder, William Carvalho.

West Brom refuse to give up in their pursuit of long-term Arsenal target Carvalho.

The Baggies allegedly had a £20m bid rejected by the Liga NOS side last year and Tony Pulis is so keen on the midfielder that they’re reportedly set to return this summer with an offer of £30m – a club record.

Arsenal have reportedly been interested in the Portugal international again recently. Although given the Gunners’ tendency to be linked with the 25-year-old at any given opportunity, it’s hard to take the rumours seriously.

The club allegedly had an offer of £80m knocked back by Sporting for both Carvalho and Gelson Martins earlier in the month and were told they would have to pay over £30m for Carvalho alone, which suggests that West Brom’s bid may not be enough. However, if Sporting are as keen to offload the bloke as the press suggest, perhaps they will now.

Carvalho made 43 appearances for Sporting last season, scoring twice and assisting four.

He has three years left on his current deal.
