Thomas Lemar seems to be Arsenal’s priority so far. This is what we know so far.

  • Lemar is a top target for Arsenal
  • Arsenal have made two offers that have been rejected
  • Lemar wants to join Arsenal

After securing the signing of Alexandre Lacazette, it now appears that Arsenal’s priority is Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, reports the Daily Mail.

How much have Arsenal bid?

According to reports from L’Equipe, Arsenal opened the bidding with an offer just over £30m, which was then rejected by Monaco.

Arsenal returned with an improved offer, believed to be around £40m, but that has also been rejected. Arsenal are now expected to make a third offer of £45m.

How much do Monaco want?

Monaco were believed to be open to a sale earlier in the summer but have since toughened their stance on the player. Reports suggested the French club wanted as much as £80m for the France international.

However, according to Italian journalist Emanuele Guilianelli, Monaco are asking for £53m. In which case, Arsenal may not be too far off.

Will a deal actually happen?

Most sources are in agreement that Lemar wants to join Arsenal, and would like for the move to happen this summer.

The Daily Star go as far as claiming that personal terms have already been agreed.

Arsenal are expected to try and get a deal done during their pre-season tours of Australia and China, and seem willing to play the long game with Monaco.

Lemar could join Arsenal as a replacement for Theo Walcott, whether the latter wants it or not.
