Arsenal legend Robert Pires believes that Monaco winger, Thomas Lemar, would be the perfect addition to his former team.

Pires recently described Lemar as the ‘kind of player that can make a difference’ and made it clear that he believes Arsenal should snap up the £45m 21-year-old from Monaco.

“I love him as a player,” Pires told Sky Sports.

“For me, Thomas Lemar is one of the best French players there is. He can play on the left, he can play on the right, he can score goals and he can make assists.”

The former Invincible added, “Lemar is the kind of player who can make a difference. He has the right profile to play for Arsenal, definitely. I hope for him and for Arsenal that it happens.”

Arsenal was heavily linked with Lemar for weeks. However, the rumours have recently cooled down after the Gunners made a reported £45m offer for the France international.

story trackerMonaco are thought to be reluctant to allow another talented player to leave this summer considering Tiemoue Bakayoko signed for Chelsea last week, Bernardo Silva has moved to Manchester City, Kylian Mbappe is being linked with Arsenal, PSG and Real Madrid, and Benjamin Mendy could also be on the move.

Lemar is said to be keen to sign for the Gunners since he wants to work under Arsene Wenger and was even said to have agreed personal terms but it’s all gone a bit quiet.
