It appears that the Telegraph are trolling Arsenal fans with their recent piece on Tottenham’s ambition.

After Antonio Conte claimed that the reason Spurs don’t have to spend as much is because less is expected of them, Jeremy Wilson from the Telegraph replied insisting that the Chelsea boss couldn’t be wider of the mark. In fact, Wilson believes Spurs are the most ambitious team in the Premier League, just not in the way Conte ‘understands’.

Wilson knows all too well how irate this would make Arsenal fans after Arsene Wenger was lambasted for a decade for doing exactly the same thing that Mauricio Pochettino is being applauded for – i.e. not spending and attempting to build from within.

He also knows exactly how much angry Gooners like the click on stuff. So I reckon we’re being trolled a little bit here.

Hilariously, the piece continues by basically describing Wenger’s philosophy over the past 10 years while Arsenal were paying off the Emirates. The very same philosophy which saw the Frenchman labeled tight-fisted. Except instead of Wenger’s name, it’s Pochettino’s, and instead of the manager being poked fun at, he’s being praised.

But wait, there’s more!

The bizarre article then goes on to hail Poch’ for bringing through youth talent and carving out a plan for the future, all while building a new stadium.

This is the guy who gave Newcastle £30m for Moussa Sissoko last year…

Don’t get me wrong, Poch’s approach is admirable. I just don’t understand why it wasn’t admirable when Wenger did it.
