Monaco full-back Djibril Sidibe has ruled out any move this summer by extending his contract at the Stade Louis II.

  • Sidibe was touted as an option for Arsenal this summer amid Bellerin speculation
  • Bellerin could be the only recognised right back in Arsenal’s squad
  • Arsenal will now have to look else where if they want a right back

The French full-back was being linked with Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United, but has now killed any speculation by agreeing a new contract with Monaco.

The extension will last until 2022, meaning that any club that wants to sign him now will have pay major cash. It’s one less option available to Arsenal, who may be looking at right backs this summer.

Should Carl Jenkinson and Mathieu Debuchy leave the club this summer as expected, Bellerin will be the only recognised right back in the whole squad. While a number of players can cover the position, none of them would be able to provide competition for the Spaniard.

Sidibe can also play as a left back, which would have provided extra cover in that position for Arsenal. Arsenal will now have to look else where if they want to strengthen their defence this summer.
