Roma are planning a move for Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, with interest from Arsenal having waned in recent weeks.

  • Martial could leave after United confirmed the signing of Romelu Lukaku
  • Roma could offer £30m for the Frenchman
  • Martial was linked with Arsenal last month

Martial’s future was already in doubt as he found himself out of favour with United manager Jose Mourinho, but it could be even more so now the Red Devils have confirmed the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Everton.

According to the Mirror, Roma are hoping to capitalise on that by making a £30m bid. Martial was linked with Arsenal last month, with talk of Arsenal offering the Frenchman more first team football.

However, the likelihood of Jose Mourinho allowing such a move to happen were always slim, and given the choice, he’d much prefer to sell the player to Roma.

Although moves between United and Arsenal have happened before, Mourinho and Wenger are not on the best of terms. Mourinho was also said to be enraged when Chelsea, who were then managed by the Portuguese, allowed Petr Cech to join Arsenal in 2014.

It’s fair to say even if Martial was available, there’d likely be no business done between the two.
