PSG manager Unai Emery would prefer Kylian Mbappe over Alexis Sanchez because he’s French.

  • Alexis wants to win the Champions League and feels he needs to change clubs to do that
  • Emery, though, would prefer Mbappe because of his nationality

Alexis’ potential move to PSG is beginning to gain traction with the French club actively trying to sign him. There have already been reports that one of their director, Antero Henrique, has flown to London for talks over Alexis.

Now manager Unai Emery has had his say about the interest. The Spaniard regards Alexis highly but believes Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe would be a better signing.

“If we want to compete with Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Real Madrid to win the Champions League, PSG must have one of the top five players in the world,” he said.

“Sanchez and Mbappe are great players. In addition, Mbappe is French and I want French players in a French team.”

Alexis’ ambition is to win the Champions League and he feels he won’t be able to do that with Arsenal, especially as they’re not even in the competition next season. PSG might give him the platform to do that, but they would have to convince Arsenal to sell first.

Their renewed interest in Alexis seems to come from their failed attempts to sign Mbappe. Monaco are asking for a huge fee that few clubs are willing to pay at this moment in time.
