Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere has admitted at least two players could leave the club this summer.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned this summer, it’s that French presidents are refreshingly transparent during the transfer window. Lyon’s president Jean-Michael Aulas couldn’t keep his mouth shut while Arsenal were chasing Alexandre Lacazette.

It’s now Nice’s president’s turn to comment on his club’s transfer business. “There should be three or four more arrivals, and two departures,” he said, as reported by Football London.

“We want to finish these as soon as possible, but certain cases take more time than others. I think we will manage, because these last ones should be finalised faster than those from last year.”

This could give encouragement for Arsenal, who are being linked with Nice’s Ivorian midfielder Jean-Michael Seri. Seri is a highly regarded creative midfielder, coming off the back of an impressive season for Nice and could be available for £36m.

According to Football London’s report, the Gunners are not willing to meet that price as they feel Nice would accept something lower. Many Arsenal fans feel that they should be looking at central midfielders due to the prolonged absence of Santi Cazorla.

Seri is seen as the perfect choice and is seemingly available for the Londoners if they put the money up. There could be more developments on Seri after Nice have played their Champions League qualifiers against Ajax.

It’s not long now until the new Premier League season and it’s unlikely Wenger will want to be trawling the transfer market for new players, rather than working with the existing squad.
