Arsenal have been chasing Monaco’s Thomas Lemar all summer, but the latest update from could hamper their chances of landing their man.

Monaco have already sold Tiemoue Bakayoko to Chelsea, as well as Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy to Manchester City, all for large transfer fees. There is also still ongoing speculation about a potential world record bid for young striker Kylian Mbappé.

It was therefore already looking unlikely Monaco would sell more first team players. However, the rumours continued to persist, with The Sun even reporting Arsenal were on the brink of completing a deal.

Now though, GFFN have tweeted out quotes from AS Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev, who claims that Lemar and Fabinho will both remain with at the Stade Louis II.

This isn’t necessarily confirmation there won’t be a deal done at some point, especially since Arsenal fans have already experienced Lyon CEO Jean-Michel Aulas telling Canal+ that Lacazette wouldn’t be sold, only for the player to promptly join the Gunners.

However, based on these quotes it does seem the Monaco VP has received some sort of assurance that Lemar will remain, especially since there have been no reports of a transfer request, official or otherwise.
