Arsenal are believed to be competing with Manchester United and Juventus for Real Madrid’s unhappy forward who could leave as a result of a lack of playing time.

According to Spanish outlet Don Balon via the Daily Star, Marco Asensio is the subject of interest for the three European giants and is considering his future at the Santiago Bernabeu with qualms over opportunities next season.

The 21-year-old made 23 La Liga appearances in 2016/17, scoring three goals and making two assists. He started just 11 times in the Spanish top flight, with the likes of Isco, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Lucas Vazquez getting the nod ahead of him.

Zinedine Zidane might be able to give him assurances, however, given the club have sold Alvaro Morata to Chelsea, while James Rodriguez has been loaned out to Bayern Munich, suggesting the diminishing competition boosts his chances of featuring on a more regular basis.

Asensio averaged just 47 minutes-per-game in the league, being frequently taken off in the second-half of games he started, or featuring in the second-half of games he was benched for. A move away, even a season-long loan, could see him getting the game time he feels he deserves.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Juventus might have too much competition in the side to guarantee him more appearances than Real, however, so Asensio may need to lower his expectations if he is keen to move.
