Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez is reportedly on the brink of joining Arsenal this summer and the official announcement is expected to be made in the coming days.

That’s according to BBC Sport contributor Dale O’Donnell who published this tweet on Sunday morning, reports the Daily Star.

Mahrez has been linked with Arsenal all summer and the rumours intensified after he handed in a transfer request. The Algerian international scored and created just nine goals in 36 Premier League appearances in a difficult Leicester campaign but has been a target of the Gunners’ for two years and would likely thrive in their system.

The 26-year-old would potentially be the antithesis to Alexis Sanchez, instead operating on the right flank and cutting inside on his stronger left-foot, allowing Hector Bellerin to overlap down the right. He has a good eye for goals and is a highly creative individual, also capable of individual brilliance due to his outstanding dribbling ability.

Arsenal are believed to have sealed a deal worth £35m to sign him this summer, with no other side having made their interest official, and the latest reports suggest he will be on his way to the Emirates later this week.
