RB Leipzig have rejected Liverpool’s £66m for midfielder Naby Keita as Arsenal continue to be linked.

  • Leipzig insist that Keita is not for sale at any price
  • Owner Dietrich Mateschitz says selling Keita would give out wrong sign to fans and players
  • Arsenal have been linked, but will now be wary

It seems that Naby Keita won’t be going anywhere this summer.

Liverpool have been the most interested in the midfielder, but have had a massive bid of £66m turned down, according to The Telegraph.

Leipzig own Dietrich Mateschitz has today spoken to German media about the offer, and has sent a clear message to any other interested club.

“We don’t sell any of our players just to get money,” he told Bild.

“Lately we got a €75m offer for Naby Keita. No way! He has a contract and he will accomplish it.

“To sell him would not only be a proof of distrust to our fans but also the wrong sign for our players like Timo Werner, who is in demand too.”

Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in Keita, but will now be wary of making a bid.

Keita is regarded by many to be the exact sort of midfielder Arsenal need after an impressive first season in the Bundesliga.

He made 31 appearances for Leipzig, helping them to a remarkable second place finish.
