Leicester have rejected a bid from Roma for Riyad Mahrez.

It turns out that Roma are the first club to make a proper move for Mahrez this summer.

According to the BBC, Leicester have rejected a bid from Roma, who have identified Mahrez as a replacement for Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah.

The bid is said be “very low” and has been “politely declined” by Leicester, who are believed to want £50m for the Algerian.

Arsenal have been interested in Mahrez for a while now, but as yet have not made a serious effort to sign him this summer.

There was some speculation that Arsenal could target Mahrez if they couldn’t Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.

If this is the case, Arsenal are taking their time making a proper approach.

Roma, meanwhile, will likely return with an improved offer.
