Alexandre Lacazette is flattered by the comparisons drawn between him and Arsenal legend, Ian Wright.

While Lacazette admits that he hasn’t watched a lot of Wrighty play (for shame) he’s happy to be compared to an Arsenal legend.

“I know about Ian Wright very well,” the France international told Arsenal.com.

“I’ve never seen him play but if I am compared to him that is great.

“If I have a career where fans think of me like they do about Ian Wright then I’ll be very happy.

“I have arrived at a very special club, a very good club who are very organised,” added Lacazette.

“With the other players in the team, there are very high levels so it is a great opportunity for me to improve.”

Another former Gunner, Nigel Winterburn, made the comparison recently when speaking about Lacazette’s style of player, pointing out how the 26-year-old’s speed and deadly eye for goal reminded him of Wrighty back in the day.

“Whenever I have seen Lacazette play, he is in the mould of Ian Wright – quick and very dangerous in the penalty area. He has the makings of a great signing,” the former full-back told the Mirror.

“It also shows Arsene’s determination to make the squad stronger – and I believe there will be more signings and at least one more big one.”

The legendary striker scored 185 goals in 279 appearances during his time in north London, so Lacazette has a long way before he quite reaches Wrighty’s status, but it’s good to have something to aim for, right?

Lacazette completed his move to Arsenal from Lyon last week for a club record of £52m.
