Hector Bellerin may have sent a message to Arsenal and Barcelona fans.

Bellerin was heavily linked with Barcelona this summer. Spanish media did its best to convince everyone that Bellerin was crazy about rejoining Barcelona and pushing to leave Arsenal. The player himself, however, seems perfectly happy at Arsenal and is pleased to be back in action wearing the red and white.

Some fans have taken this as Bellerin making a point to Barcelona. The speculation earlier this summer was relentless. You could barely go a day without a new story from Spain about Barcelona’s latest harebrained scheme to sign Bellerin.

Any plan that they came up with hinged on Bellerin asking to leave Arsenal. They were confident that Bellerin’s desire to return was stronger than the loyalty he felt for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal weren’t having any of that, and informed Barcelona in no uncertain terms that the player wasn’t for sale.Barcelona have since signed Nelson Semedo and Bellerin will be an Arsenal player for many more years to come.

Last season, the 22-year-old made 33 Premier League appearances, scoring and creating five goals. Bellerin’s form was patchy after his mid-season injury but he ended the campaign on a strong note and is clearly delighted to go into the 2017/18 as an Arsenal man.
