Olivier Giroud has once again stated that for now he remains an Arsenal player, despite all the speculation around his future.

At the start of the summer it seemed as if Olivier’s future was resolved, with a new contract signed and the backing of manager Arsène Wenger. However, with the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette things have started to look a little less clear. Although Arsène still states his admiration for the Frenchman, Giroud hasn’t been as decisive in his public responses to the media.

In an interview on ESPN after the Western Sydney Wanderers, he reaffirmed that for now his loyalties lie with the Gunners, and his efforts are focused on preparing for 2017/18 to kick off, saying:

“I said no question about my future, you know, I’m still an Arsenal player for the moment and I want to prepare well for the season.”

So at least “for the moment” it seems that Olivier doesn’t have any exit plans.

The other big question raised by Lacazette’s arrival is whether the two of them could play together on the pitch.

Olivier seemed optimistic about the possibility of a partnership:

“He is a good player, it’s always easy to play with this kind of player, we have a good understanding on the pitch. We had the opportunity to play a little bit training in the national team.

“I think he will settle well to the English Premier League.”
