Mesut Ozil recently confirmed his desire to remain at Arsenal, but fans believe he’s only staying because no other club wants or can afford him.

Before the summer began, fans were dreading the prospect of losing Ozil with the German having a year remaining on his current contract and being yet to sign a new one.
There were fears that he could lead a big exodus of players this summer. However, Ozil has recently said he’s happy at Arsenal and now looks to stay next season.
While this should be good news, some fans have taken the cynical view that he’s only staying at Arsenal because nobody wants him.

Ozil has been linked with a move to the Turkish Super Lig this summer, but the quality of football would be considerably lower, even if the top clubs were willing to match his wage demands.

The player’s agent has hardly said a word about a potential deal for some time and Ozil’s contract U-turn shows there’s no interest coming from European sides.

Whether he’s wanted or not, it should be good news that Arsenal are keeping hold of Ozil. Hopefully he’ll form a good partnership with Lacazette and remind everyone of the quality he has.
