Everton are apparently still interested in signing Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, according to latest reports.

Olivier Giroud has been the subject of much speculation over the summer as a result of Alexandre Lacazette’s arrival from Lyon. He originally seemed set to stay with the club, having signed a new contract a few months earlier and having the full public backing of manager Arsène Wenger.

However, since Lacazette joined things have seemed a lot less clear. Giroud said in an interview whilst on tour in Sydney that it was a possibility that he could leave the club. Everton were one of the clubs linked to him at the time with the impending departure of Romelu Lukaku.

The Blues sold Lukaku and brought in Wayne Rooney, and at the time that seemed to be the end of the matter. But it’s now been suggested by the Guardian via Sports Illustrated that Everton are still retaining their interest in Giroud.

The Frenchman may still be interested in a move to help his World Cup chances, though he hasn’t made any further comments about wanting to leave. He spent last season as an impact player from the bench and can’t be best pleased to see his chances of getting back in the starting lineup are all but gone.
