Everton’s chances of signing Olivier Giroud have been boosted by Dortmund keeping hold of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

  • Giroud was a possible replacement for Aubameyang
  • Aubameyang now looks set to stay at Dortmund
  • Everton have been heavily linked with Giroud

Aubameyang was apparently available this summer but Borussia Dortmund have recently said that the striker was not for sale. This could be good news for Everton, as Dortmund were reportedly looking at Giroud as a replacement for Aubameyang should he leave the club.

With Aubameyang looking set to stay at Dortmund, though, Everton will feel there is less competition for Giroud. The Toffees have been very busy in the transfer market so far and are now on the hunt for a striker to replace Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian moved to Manchester United for £75m. Although they already have Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney, they’ve been heavily linked with Giroud in recent weeks.

Giroud could still leave Arsenal despite being involved in the club’s tour of Australia and China. The Frenchman admitted as much, but is, for the time being, focusing on Arsenal and getting ready for the new season.
