Deportivo made a bid for Lucas Perez last week as player and agent reportedly wait for Arsenal’s response.

Lucas’ agent, Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle, is in London hoping to finalise his client’s move to Deportivo La Caruna.

Lovelle confirmed that Arsenal had received a bid believed to be around £8.1m for the striker, and is now waiting for Arsenal’s response.

“I’m here to see the Emirates Cup and to be with Lucas,” he said, as reported by the Daily Mail.

“We have talked to everyone. Arsenal know we want to go, that there are no opportunities here, and within a year there is a World Cup.

“Would you not be angry and sad and upset if you had your squad number taken without being asked?

“Deportivo made an offer a week ago. It is a permanent deal and worth more than Nolito’s move to Sevilla.”

Interestingly, he previously said that Lucas would not be sold for less than £10.6m.

Arsenal were hoping to recoup most of the £17m it cost them to bring Lucas to the club last summer.

However, none of the interested clubs have been capable of meeting their asking price, and Lucas seems determined to return to Deportivo.

The Spanish club are reportedly willing to offer Lucas a 10-year contract, as well as a non-playing role at the club after retirement.

Lucas hails from Caruna and has his most successful spell as a player there. He hopes to return so he can have a chance of getting into Spain’s World Cup squad.

The striker is unhappy at Arsenal due to a lack of first team opportunities that he felt he deserved. He is also upset that Arsenal changed his squad number without consulting with him.

Lucas was left out of Arsenal’s pre-season games and is currently training away from the first team squad, who are preparing for this weekend’s Emirates Cup.
