The England international spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough in a bid to get more first team football. He made 24 appearances for them, and looked set to return to Arsenal and challenge for a spot in the back three.

However, it now seems that Arsenal are open to selling Chambers, with Crystal Palace reportedly making a bid of £16m.

The 22-year-old has struggled for first-team football since arriving from Southampton in 2014 and never seemed to have the complete faith of Arsene Wenger.

He had a strong first season at the club, making 23 Premier League appearances. However, the following season he made just 12 Premier League appearances, which prompted a loan move in 2016.

Despite planning on playing with three centre-backs next season, Wenger is still reportedly willing to let Chambers go.

Chambers played every match for an England U21 side that reached the semi-finals of the U21 European Championships this summer. He was one of their better performers, keeping Rob Holding on the bench.
