Chelsea are interested in signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, but Arsenal have no intention of selling to a rival.

  • Chamberlain has turned down a contract extension at Arsenal
  • Chelsea have been interested in Chamberlain for a couple of years
  • Arsenal do not want to sell even if Chamberlain doesn’t sign a new deal

Chamberlain has a year left on his current Arsenal contract and turned down an extension earlier in the summer. This has alerted a few Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are keeping tabs on the player in the hopes that Arsenal could become more open to selling him. They view Chamberlain as potential competition for Victor Moses at wing back and as depth for their attacking positions.

Arsenal, though, have no intention of selling to a rival despite Chamberlain refusing to sign a new deal. It’s believed Chamberlain doesn’t want to sign a new contract due to wanting more consistent playing time as a central midfielder.

While Arsenal has given him opportunities as a midfielder, they prefer to use him as a winger or as a wing-back.
