The winger was away at the Gold Cup with Costa Rica until he picked up a knee injury in a group stage match against Canada. The injury required surgery to repair, which he underwent in Costa Rica.

Thanks God the surgery was very good … now a moment to have a very good recovery … very soon on the pitch🙌🏿🙏🏿⚽️⚽️ he said on Instagram.

Campbell is expected to recover in 4-6 weeks, provided there’re no complications. The injury could prevent him from leaving Arsenal this summer, however, as he may not be ready for any medicals before the end of August.

Campbell spent last season on loan at Sporting Lisbon, where he made 28 appearances in all appearances and scored three goals. With so many attackers already at Arsenal, there isn’t a place for him in the squad.

It’s expected the Costa Rica man will be one of the players to leave the club this summer but a move may now come in January if he’s not back in time.
