Bordeaux have confirmed they will complete a deal with Arsenal next week for Wellington Silva.

• Silva signed for Arsenal in 2011 before being sold in 2016
• He had 3 years left on his Fluminese deal
• Arsenal sent Wellington on 5 loans during his time at the club

Arsenal have activated the player’s buy-back clause in his contract to purchase him for €3.5m before selling him on for an instant profit of €1.5m.

They have most likely inserted another buy-back and sell-on clause to the new deal, meaning that should Wellington blossom in France and earn himself a big move, Arsenal will either get him cheaply or make more money on him

Bordeaux’s coach, Jocelyn Gourvennec, said, “Wellington Silva is expected to arrive this weekend and sign with us early next week after his medical visit.

“It took a bit of time, but he should be with us .”

Fluminese have also confirmed the deal, reluctant as they were to lose the player who seems to have finally found himself after years of seeming a bit lost as a youngster.
