Arsenal are reportedly asking for £20m for Calum Chambers after rejecting a £16m bid from Crystal Palace.

  • Crystal Palace have had a £16m bid rejected
  • Arsenal are hoping for something closer to £20m so they can profit on the player
  • Chambers is unlikely to receive games next season and is free to leave

Despite a decent loan spell at Middlesbrough last season, it seems that Chambers hasn’t done enough to convince Arsene Wenger to make him part of his plans.

Rather than loan him out again, Arsenal are looking to sell the defender for £20m, which would net them a £4m profit on a player that hasn’t featured much for Arsenal.

Crystal Palace have already had a £16m bid rejected by Arsenal, but there’s hope that the two clubs can reach a compromise.

Chambers is unlikely to receive much game time next season having been usurped by countryman Rob Holding. It seems a clean break would benefit both parties.

Arsenal signed Calum Chambers from Southampton in 2014 for a fee potentially rising to £16m.

He made 59 appearances for Arsenal before being loaned out to Middlesbrough last season, where he appeared 26 times.
