Arsenal want to make Riyad Mahrez their next big signing after completing Alexandre Lacazette’s acquisition.

  • Arsenal wanted to sign Mahrez last summer
  • He could be an alternative to Thomas Lemar
  • Mahrez wants to leave Leicester

While reports that Mahrez could be signed this week seem to be off the mark, Arsenal do have an interest in the winger.

According to the Independent, Arsenal will try to make the Algerian their next big signing after completing the signing of Alexandre Lacazette yesterday.

Arsenal tried to sign him last summer, but he had committed to Leicester for another season. This summer, though, Mahrez told Leicester he wants to leave so he could join a bigger club.

Reports indicate the 26-year-old would be Arsenal’s second choice after Monaco’s Thomas Lemar. However, Lemar is looking increasingly unlikely to join as Monaco have upped their asking price.

Mahrez could cost Arsenal around £40m and is regarded as a more attainable target.
