Miriael Taylor has become the second England u17 player to join Arsenal following in Gabby Ravenscroft’s footsteps.

The midfielder announced the move on social media and will likely to start the season with the development team.

The 17-year-old was part of the England u17 team that reached the Euro finals last May in the Czech Republic. She played two games out of three in the group stage against Netherlands and Norway.

At club level, Miri made 13 appearances with Chelsea Ladies’ development team in 2016/17 scoring one goal – a good return for a defensive midfielder.  She did not get any game time during the Spring series but managed two appearances for Chelsea Ladies first team in 2016.

Taylor is a quality signing and will be a key player in the development team’s midfield as Kelly Smith will have to rebuild a team after so many players left the club.

In the long term, there might be a first-team opening in the future as Fara Williams is nearing the end of her football career, but it will depend if Pedro Losa signs another seasoned player to replace her.
