Arsenal have made contact with Ligue 1 side Toulouse over the possibility of signing talented young goalkeeper Alban Lafont.

That’s according to recent developments published in France’s Le10Sport, who claim Arsenal are considering a move should David Ospina leave the club this summer.

Ospina, 28, has been linked with a move away in recent months and Turkish side Fenerbahce have reignited their interest in the Colombian shot-stopper. AC Milan were said to be interested in the prospect of signing him too should Gianluigi Donnarumma make a move away this summer, though it’s increasingly likely that the Italian wonderkid will remain with the Rossoneri, for now at least.

Although Petr Cech is Arsenal’s first-choice at present, he’s unlikely to remain there for much longer than another season or two.

Wojciech Szczesny’s future with the Gunners is increasingly uncertain, as Serie A champions Juventus have been heavily linked with an approach to sign the Poland international this summer.

It’s not the first time that speculation has linked Arsenal with a possible move for Lafont, either. Last year, we were said to be tracking his progress and now, the complicated goalkeeping situation could prompt Arsene Wenger into making a formal bid for his services.

Lafont is one of Europe’s best young goalkeepers and represents a long-term move before his stock continues to rise with recognition of impressive performances in Ligue 1.

Born in Burkina Faso, the 18-year-old represents France at u20 level and has made 14 international appearances since his u16 debut in February 2015.

He has made 62 senior appearances to date with Toulouse and kept 18 clean sheets in Ligue 1, which is an impressive tally considering he’s still got plenty of room to develop with time and more experience.
