Crystal Palace are reportedly edging closer to signing Calum Chambers.

Although Palace had an initial offer of £16m including add-ons rebuffed by Arsenal, a move for Chambers is reportedly moving closer.

According to the Guardian, the Gunners value the defender at £25m but £20m seems to be a more realistic transfer fee and it’s widely believed that this will go ahead soon.

The Eagles were originally up for taking the 22-year-old on loan but now a permanent deal appears to be the most likely outcome.

Chambers only signed for Arsenal from Southampton for £16m in 2014 and although he hasn’t been given much of a chance in the first team, only featuring 59 times in total, he’s suffered his fair share of injuries.

Last season, the England u21 international went out on loan to Middlesbrough where he impressed.

While there, he made 26 appearances and got a taste of what it’s like to play week in, week out, which he obviously doesn’t see happening in north London.
